Copper iodide has the chemical formula of CuI and molar mass of 190.45 g/mol. The product is in the form of a white powder that produces species of oxygen which causes the killing of virus by destroying their proteins. Copper has long been known to have antibacterial properties and several compounds have been used for this purpose.
Copper iodide can be used in the production of products such as face masks, disposable clothes, anti-viral bedsheet and anti-viral coatings.
